Not that the dead have been rising much lately. All in all, it's been quiet. Peaceful. Calm and sedate even...
Wait whut, there were elections recently? Oh darn, I don't do TV. Shame I missed out on all those scintillating political ads that would have made excellent fodder for yon k-blog.
I should make it up to you. Both of you.
Have some hipster hitler.
And don't say I never did nothin' for ya.

Stranger Than Fiction
But then there are some shows that go completely beyond the pale of enjoyability, until they become nothing more than overwritten collections of tropes impossible to watch without groaning.
I think the worst offender here is the History Channel and all their programs on the so-called "World War II".
Let's start with the bad guys. Battalions of stormtroopers dressed in all black, check. Secret police, check. Determination to brutally kill everyone who doesn't look like them, check. Leader with a tiny villain mustache and a tendency to go into apopleptic rage when he doesn't get his way, check. All this from a country that was ordinary, believable, and dare I say it sometimes even sympathetic in previous seasons.
I wouldn't even mind the lack of originality if they weren't so heavy-handed about it. Apparently we're supposed to believe that in the middle of the war the Germans attacked their allies the Russians, starting an unwinnable conflict on two fronts, just to show how sneaky and untrustworthy they could be?
Yeah, especially when they ran the EXACT SAME PLOT in their Napoleon Arc a few seasons ago. And then they expect us to root for the French this season.
Srsly, folx.

Belated baby.
Sorry to miss your birthday, big daddy. I hope you are not too disappointed by my failure to send you a crotch rocket greeting card or bake you a cake.
To make up for it, I thought I'd link you a little commemorative gift: Howsabout 93+ of your all-time best speeches, in one nice, streaming package?
Well almost. There's some technical issues with a few of them, but don't let that upset you. Well, not too much. But if you feel a rant coming on...
No no, don't thank me. Thank /you/, big daddy. For all the good times. The X-box tourneys, the twitter downtimes.
The lulz.

Demotivation.
Around the Propagandaministry, we liked to have a lot of posters. I mean, that's what propaganda is all about right? Posters? Pamphlets? Chick Tracts? Commercials, feature films, sitcoms? Little Joe-Boss probably would have been cross with the sort of things that we would come up with in our spare time, but now that the war is over and all of the bitches are dead, icanhazcheesburger.com and their affiliates have started to uncover some of our rejected efforts:
Have the contents of Mr. K's wastepaper basket from beside his old desk at the Ministry been destroyed, or will they, like everything else, resurface to appear on the internet for teh lulz?
Only time will tell.
And maybe photoshop.

Featuring Darling Adolphe's Stormtrooper Review and Krystallnacht Cabaret!
Via failblog:
Our favorite part? That it's sitting right on top of a 7-11. And that this is apparently Korea. I don't know why that's so effing funny, but it is.
Our biggest regret? That we didn't think of it first.

As the kids say, "lol whut"
Today's lulz are brought to you by the letters T&A, and by Hizzonna Warren Ellis, as someone apparently thought that this book would amuse him enough to send it to him:
My only regret? That it wasn't me. This is clearly, like Mien Kamph, a misunderstood work of heartbreaking genius, and anyone should be teary at the thought of the two magnificent tomes sharing pride of place on the family bookshelf, perhaps also snuggled next to this here. Nu?
Yeah, that's what I thought. I should start doing book reviews for the lulz.
Also, happy new year, mien kinder.
